The past couple months and the past 5 years especially since covid and with lots of life changes and life difficulties, I have had to refocus on positive thinking, meditation, prayer, journaling and being intentional.
I have used various different tools at different times of my life, but then life gets easier and I don’t feel the need so much until life gets challenging again! And that’s where I’ve found myself the last little bit. Here are some of the resources I’ve been using!
Louise Hay’s books. I went through her books, You Can Heal Your Life and The Power Within. They were both excellent. I started really practicing affirmations and noticing negative thought patterns. (I love you, I approve of you, I am safe.) have been very helpful. I went on a 30 minute walk once and that’s all I said to myself and I felt so great afterward!!
I noticed that I was carrying some resentment and there were some people I needed to forgive. It was really great to let that go!
I also really enjoy Near Death Experience videos. One common thread amongst the various experiences is the unconditional love and acceptance they feel on the other side. That is really nice to think about!! Then I started watching and learning about manifestation. Turns out manifestation is basically faith and our words and thoughts matter a LOT!!
Then another friend recommended Florence Scovil Shinn. Her books are amazing!! And they are in the public domain here. Her writings are about faith and trust in Lord and believing that all things will be for our good. She has lots of examples from the Bible and from people she helped and knew. It is very inspiring and has many wonderful affirmations that are super edifying, inspiring, motivating and enlightening. It has really built up my faith to put those affirmations in my mind to bring up whenever I am doubting myself or facing difficult situations.
Then I got back into Joe Dispenzas material and videos. I read his books years ago when I first realized that I was ill and needed help! Long story— anyway I have been listening to his meditations on YouTube and they have really helped me take that still time to reconnect with God and to feel His love and to have a broader perspective on life and on what really matters. It’s a practice in feeling grateful, blessed, joyful, happy- because with many of the stresses of life, I just wasn’t feeling those things and the meditations help me recognized when I’m developing a bad thinking pattern, so then I can choose to focus on more positive things not that the negative thinking is uncalled for or should be ignored- it shouldn’t but it also shouldn’t take care over’ there is always plenty to be genuinely grateful for!!
Then last week I started another amazing book by Catherine Ponder called the Dynamic Laws of Healing—. It was also fantastic, talking about releasing expectations, forgiveness, imagination, love, praise, criticism, prayer, and so much more. It was all exactly what I needed.
So anyway, those are just a few thoughts and resources. I may need to go deeper on these because each of them were so good, and I feel like I have grown a lot. My attitude is a lot better even when facing difficulties. I have more trust and faith in the Lord that He is always aware of my situation and that all the things will work out for the greater good of us all.
Right now, I just have gratitude in my heart. And I have tools including breathing and affirmations to turn to, when I go back in my regular fearful worried patterns of thinking.
One great affirmation from Florence is I love everyone and everyone loves me. I forgive everyone and everyone forgives me. And from Louise Hay: Life is a joy and filled with love. Those are true statements if not seemingly so right now, they will be soon and definitely in the eternities where God’s love reigns supreme.
Lots of love and encouragement to you! Thanks for reading! Until next time!!
